Has over thirty years of experience in the
middle-market merger/acquisition, valuation and financial fields. He holds a B.S. in
Economics from Xavier University, is immediate past President of the Association for
Corporate Growth (ACG), and was Co-Chair of the 1999 Tech Coast Corporate Investment
Conference sponsored by The Orange County Business Council. He is a past President of
Orange and Chicago chapters of ACG, and an International Board Director. He has operated
Tuerk & Associates for over 14 years and has held positions with various other
merger/acquisition and major investment banking firms. He served as President of a venture
capital company where he turned around a troubled portfolio, handled special investments
and participated in IPOs and mergers. |

A. (Jim) Reed - Director Jim is a graduate of San Diego State University
where he majored in the Liberal Arts and minored in Business Management. He also did
graduate studies in Business Management at the same institution.
He spent 25 years in sales and marketing management in the
building materials and hardware industries. Included in this span was time in the employ
of several national Fortune 500 firms, including Owens Corning Fiberglas Corporation and
Boise Cascade Corporation. Jim also founded and operated his own successful
manufacturers representative agency. During this 12 year span, he took on a partner,
and in 1987 sold his half of the business to the partner in order to seek new
opportunities. The company continues to exist and now boasts sales in the $30M range.
In early 1990 Jim entered the field of business brokerage. He
began with a firm that was founded by a friend and business associate whom Jim had known
since the late 1960s. He also served on the companys Management Advisory
Council at the request of the owner.
Jim has authored several articles on different aspects of the
brokering of business entities. These appeared in newspapers and magazines directed to the
owners of small businesses, and dealt with a variety of topics including business
valuation, the selling process, and the criteria for choosing the right intermediary for
the individual business owner.
Reed holds a California Real Estate Brokers license. In addition
to completing several advance courses in business brokerage and valuation methodologies,
he has served as guest lecturer at the Graduate School of Business, California Polytechnic
Institute, Pomona, and has accepted an invitation to do the same at the graduate school of
business at the University of Southern California.
During his 10 years as an intermediary, Jim has managed the sales
process for most types of businesses. Included are successful transactions for businesses
involved in software development, manufacturing, business services, and wholesaling. Mr.
Reed feels that his vast array of experience in sales, marketing, and general management,
as well as a great many business sale transactions serve him well in the capacity of
Business Intermediary, no matter what the category. |
